A trip to Howe Caverns, the largest known system of underground caves in NY. The highest point is 160 ft below and the lowest is around 210 ft. No matter what time of the year you go down, it’s always 51 degrees.

Largest limestone formation in the system – took about 500,000 years to form

There are tons of mineral deposits down there – The green indicates copper, the yellow is sulfer, and the orange is iron

NYC transit museum tour of the Greenwich St substation. These huge factory-like buildings hold the AC>DC rotary converters that help to power the subway.
