Central Michigan Station

Once the main Amtrak hub of downtown Detroit, the last train left the station over 22 years ago. It’s been abandoned since. Even though it was given landmark status, the 97 year-old building has been left to deteriorate and was slated to be demolished this year. Fortunately, a lawsuit is preventing this gem from being systematically torn down. My brother and I were only able to explore for a short time, but even the small pieces were saw were quite striking.

Suddenly, a fire truck pulled up and hooked into one of the nearby hydrants. I’m not sure if this was just a testing exercise, but the ladder was raised and they started hosin’!
